Most tasks are from the era of WWII. According to the gameplay, the player can navigate the world from a third-person view and can move freely around the globe to eliminate enemy creatures. It is the only game in the series where the enemy cannot control vehicles.
The game allows the player to unlock more weapons and new areas by using his experience points. Army Men: World War includes core features such as well-programmed enemies, upgrades, different weapons and lots of missions, etc.
