The game puts the player in the role of the protagonist named Eragon with is a dragon called Saphira. During the hunting, the protagonist finds a mysterious stone. The protagonist keeps the exposed rock to seel in the future at a reasonable price.
In reality, the stone is an egg of a dragon, and the protagonist names the baby of dragon Saphira from the names of dragons that he heard from his elders. The dragon attracts the attention of the brutal king named Galbatorix. The King orders his servant to find the dragon.
