It takes place in the fantasy world ruled by force known as ether equipped with the representatives of kinetics, synthesis, vitality, and chaos. It has two different playable campaigns in the game, and the player must choose one of them to start the game. During the gameplay, the player must collect more than three hundred spells that will help him to progress in the game.

At the start, the player has limited options, but after completing several battles, the game allows the player to unlock some new races, powers, and cards by using his points. To make the game more challenging, it offers a multiplayer mode in which the player plays against other players to test his skills. Etherlords includes core features such as multiple races, sixty-four heroes, and lots of upgrades, unlockable achievements, smooth controls, and beautiful visual details.
